LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Liam Fitzsimmons upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Young Alumnus in Political Science
Award by the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Liam Fitzsimmons has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Liam Fitzsim-
mons upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Young
Alumnus in Political Science Award by the Rockefeller College of Public
Affairs and Policy, to be celebrated at its 2014 Alumni Dinner and
Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 16, 2014, at the New York State Museum,
Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy
honors individuals such as Liam Fitzsimmons, for their outstanding
contributions in the areas of political science, public administration,
leadership, and continuing professional development; and
WHEREAS, A 2005 graduate of SUNY Albany with a Bachelor of Arts
degree, Liam Fitzsimmons is Congresswoman Louise Slaughter's Chief of
Staff; and
WHEREAS, Now in his eighth year working in the United States Congress,
Liam Fitzsimmons previously handled defense appropriations for Congress-
man Maurice Hinchey, and has been the campaign manager for three
successful Congressional campaigns; his first job was working at his
parents' farm market along Seneca Lake, New York; and
WHEREAS, Liam Fitzsimmons hails from the Town of Hector in the Finger
Lakes region of New York, and currently, is a graduate student at the
Naval War College; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes note of certain altruistic indi-
viduals it wishes to acknowledge for their philanthropic contributions
to our society which enhance the basic humanity among us all; Liam
Fitzsimmons's beloved charity is DC Central Kitchen; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife, Jen, who feels privi-
leged to be a part of his life and rejoices in his achievements; he is
also the proud uncle of one nephew and one niece; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Liam Fitzsimmons has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Liam Fitzsimmons has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Liam Fitzsimmons upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Young Alumnus in Political Science Award by the Rockefeller
College of Public Affairs and Policy; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Liam Fitzsimmons.
