LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring David and Mary Ann Silver upon the occa-
sion of their designation for special recognition as honorees by the
Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse at the "There's No Excuse for
Child Abuse" Gala and Silent Auction on May 1, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are greatly enriched by the compassionate commitment of individuals who
distinguish themselves in their profession and in service to their
community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
David and Mary Ann Silver upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse at
its Annual "There's No Excuse for Child Abuse" Gala and Silent Auction
to be held at Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls, New York, on Thursday,
May 1, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Together, David and Mary Ann Silver have dedicated their time
and energy to child abuse prevention and many other causes throughout
Dutchess County; and
WHEREAS, David and Mary Ann Silver met in New York City almost 30
years ago and have been married for 25 years; they have two daughters
and they all reside in a home they renovated as a family in Poughkeep-
sie, New York; and
WHEREAS, David Silver is a graduate of Bard College in Annandale-on-
Hudson with a Bachelor of Arts degree in photography; he moved to New
York City upon graduating to pursue his passion for photography and his
successful career owning and operating an independent software company;
and
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Silver graduated from Radford University in Radford,
Virginia, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance; she moved to New
York to work in Corporate Accounting and later joined David Silver at
this software company; and
WHEREAS, David Silver is a partner in the Rhinebeck Gardens Group, a
co-owner of Hudson Highlands Construction, LLC, and the CEO of Hudson
Highlands Properties, founded by his father Sol Silver in 1966, and led
today by David and his sister, Tina; and
WHEREAS, The Silver's family involvement in real estate spans two
generations, owning and managing well over 2,400 residential apartments
and building over 750 new condos and townhomes with David involved in
numerous and diverse residential and commercial development projects
throughout Dutchess County; and
WHEREAS, As a renowned photographer boasting over 25 years of profes-
sional experience, David Silver's work of varied landscape, cityscape,
architectural stills, and portraits from around the world has been show-
cased in galleries throughout New York City and the Hudson River Valley;
and
WHEREAS, David Silver is actively involved with local and regional
nonprofit organizations, especially in consulting on construction and
design projects and is an advocate for the arts and community serving on
the Bardavon Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Silver has fervently pursued leadership and volun-
teer opportunities in partnership with her children's schools and extra-
curricular activities, and has acted as class parental liaison,
supported the girl's athletic teams, and assisted with event planning
and execution over the last decade; and
WHEREAS, Together, David and Mary Ann Silver have donated substantial
time and effort to local organizations and are valued contributors to
the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse and members of The Bricks
and Brewers Society for Vassar Brothers Medical Center, both in Pough-
keepsie, New York; and
WHEREAS, As true assets to society, David and Mary Ann Silver's
distinguished records merit the recognition and respectful tribute of
this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor David and Mary Ann Silver upon the occasion of their designation
for special recognition as honorees by the Center for the Prevention of
Child Abuse; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to David and Mary Ann Silver.
