LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dylan Little upon the occasion of being
named to the 2013 All National Honors Ensemble by the National Associ-
ation for Music Education

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
those young people within our midst whose nationally acclaimed accom-
plishments in the musical arts bring pride to their families, their
communities, and to the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dylan Little upon the occasion of being named to the All National Honors
Ensemble by the National Association for Music Education, which was
celebrated at a gala concert in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday,
October 30, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) is one
of the largest arts education organizations in the world, addressing all
levels of musical instruction; it advocates for greater funding of music
programs, provides resources for parents, teachers, and administrators,
and offers a variety of opportunities for students and music educators;
and
WHEREAS, The All National Honors Ensemble brings together top level
music students who have competed in state-level honors ensembles from
around the country; it consists of a concert band, symphony orchestra,
mixed chorus, and jazz ensemble; and
WHEREAS, Dylan Little, a student at Port Jervis High School, has dedi-
cated himself to becoming an outstanding vocalist and trumpet player,
and consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed young musician is the first student to be
chosen from his school and one of only 13 students chosen from New York
State to perform in the 600-member All National Honors Ensemble; and
WHEREAS, Dylan Little has been studying music since he was eight
years-old, and has been performing in music festivals and competitions
since the sixth grade; and
WHEREAS, On the way to receiving this prestigious designation, Dylan
Little performed a Level VI All-State solo on trumpet and voice, quali-
fying him for the State competition in both areas; furthermore, he also
earned acceptance into the Area All-State Mixed Choir and Band; and
WHEREAS, Known for his strong commitment to improving himself in music
and all other fields of life, Dylan Little has become an excellent role
model for his classmates, respected for his professionalism and moti-
vation; and
WHEREAS, This well-rounded young man with his demonstrated passion for
excellence can look forward to a future filled with many other notable
endeavors; and
WHEREAS, The arts, in whatever form depicted, are central to human
expression; they are truly a universal language and their contribution
to the development of friendship and understanding among all peoples is
immeasurable; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dylan Little upon the occasion of being named to the 2013 All
National Honors Ensemble by the National Association for Music Educa-
tion; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dylan Little.
