LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending World Wide Travel upon the occasion of
celebrating its 25th Anniversary
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor those
businesses within the State of New York which distinguish themselves
through outstanding professional behavior, corporate innovation, and
enduring commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
World Wide Travel upon the occasion of celebrating its 25th Anniversary;
and
WHEREAS, In 1989, mother and daughter duo Lucy and Nancy Gillmeier
established World Wide Travel in Cornwall, New York; and
WHEREAS, Lucy Gillmeier has been working in the travel industry since
1965, having previously been employed at American Express in Germany,
and Sea Breeze Travel on Main Street in Cornwall; while studying busi-
ness management in college, Nancy Gillmeier worked with her mother,
helping to stamp brochures after school; and
WHEREAS, After the owner of Sea Breeze Travel passed, Lucy and Nancy
Gillmeier decided they wanted to be self-employed and opted to start
their own travel agency; they opened World Wide Travel, moving the busi-
ness to Cornwall Plaza about 10 years ago; and
WHEREAS, World Wide Travel employs a small staff of experienced travel
agents; Lucy Gillmeier's expertise is planning trips to Europe and the
exotics such as Vietnam and Thailand; Nancy Gillmeier also plans trips
to Europe, as well as the Caribbean; and
WHEREAS, A world-wide traveler herself, Nancy Gillmeier is constantly
gathering information to bring back to her clients; this personal touch
and expertise is something clients are not able to attain on the inter-
net; and
WHEREAS, World Wide Travel has been able to weather the changes in the
travel industry due to their strong client base and ability to draw in
new customers; through their exceptional customer service, they do all
the work for their clients, arranging all aspects of a trip which works
best with their client's schedule and budget; and
WHEREAS, Though the travel industry is constantly changing, Lucy and
Nancy Gillmeier keep up-to-date by going to trade shows, reading trade
magazines and e-mails, and traveling on their own; and
WHEREAS, World Wide Travel has been a mainstay in Cornwall due to its
sterling attributes which include the outstanding service the agency
offers, its ability to keep its loyal customers, and a strong referral
program; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend World Wide Travel upon the occasion of celebrating its 25th
Anniversary, and to pay tribute to its founders Lucy and Nancy Gillmei-
er; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lucy and Nancy Gillmeier, World Wide Travel.
