LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Roslyn High School students who
participated at the WAC Lighting Foundation Invitational Science Fair
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those who, by achieving outstanding success in their educa-
tional and scientific endeavors, have inspired and brought pride to our
majestic Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is also the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize
the dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish them-
selves through excellence in science competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Roslyn High School students who participated at the WAC Lighting Founda-
tion Invitational Science Fair held on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Herrick
High School, New Hyde Park, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Annual WAC Lighting Foundation Invitational Science Fair
brings together over 400 high school students to present projects high-
lighting research experience in the sciences to esteemed judges from
universities, hospitals, private practices and businesses located
throughout the New York Metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, The 2014 Roslyn High School students who participated at the
WAC Lighting Foundation Invitational Science Fair include: Mahip Grewal,
David Jaslow, Tiffany Sun, Jessica Futoran, Aansh Shah, Jordan Rosen,
Rachel Mintz, Nathan Yang, Lindsay Snyder, Spencer Shores, Barry Yang,
Nick Furci, Justin Li, and Jonathan Liao; and
WHEREAS, In the Behavioral and Social Science category, sophomore
Spencer Shores and juniors Jessica Futoran, David Jaslow, and Tiffany
Sun captured Second Place, while the team of sophomores Mahip Grewal and
Lindsay Snyder earned a 3rd Place award, along with juniors Rachel Mintz
and Aansh Shah; and
WHEREAS, Merit awards in the same category were bestowed upon the
sophomore team of Nick Furci and Nathan Yang, as well as to senior Barry
Yang; in addition, junior Jordan Rosen was also awarded Honors in this
category; and
WHEREAS, In the Physics and Astronomy category, the sophomore team of
Jonathan Liao and Justin Li also earned Honors; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate the individual accomplishments
of remarkable students in this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to recognize the Roslyn
High School students who participated at the WAC Lighting Foundation
Invitational Science Fair, and commend them for their noteworthy educa-
tional and scientific endeavors and achievements; their outstanding
performance has clearly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence
which is a tradition of their school and community; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Roslyn High School honorees at the WAC Lighting Foundation
Invitational Science Fair; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned Roslyn High School students.
