LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring student-athlete Paula Spatz upon the
occasion of her selection to the All-County Girls Basketball Team by the
Nassau County Women's Basketball Coaches Association
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor student-ath-
lete Paula Spatz upon the occasion of her selection to the All-County
Girls Basketball Team by the Nassau County Women's Basketball Coaches
Association; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Roslyn High School, Paula Spatz's outstanding
work ethic and basketball skills have led to her being named to the
All-County Girls Basketball Team for the second consecutive year; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed scholar-athlete developed a love for the game
of basketball as a youngster, playing in the Roslyn Booster Basketball
program, where she honed her abilities along with future teammates; and
WHEREAS, During the season, Paula Spatz was a vital contributor to a
successful Roslyn High School team which reached the playoffs for the
first time in five years; she was known for her excellent jump shot,
rebounding and dribbling skills, and all-around basketball talent; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable young woman has played for the Long Island
Lutheran summer basketball program and the Long Island Extreme and
Rising Stars AAU teams; and
WHEREAS, Paula Spatz also represented her country at the JCC Maccabi
games, competing at various venues across Israel in 2011; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her basketball accomplishments, Paula Spatz
has achieved All-Conference status in women's volleyball for two consec-
utive years; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Paula Spatz has clearly made a contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of her school; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor student-athlete Paula Spatz upon the occasion of her selection to
the All-County Girls Basketball Team by the Nassau County Women's
Basketball Coaches Association; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Paula Spatz.
