LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Jay Rhame, and his crew, Katie
Murphy, upon the occasion of winning the 2014 Stanley Bell Memorial
Regatta

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated leadership and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who distinguish themselves through their excep-
tional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Jay Rhame and his crew, Katie Murphy, upon the occasion of
winning the 2014 Stanley Bell Memorial Regatta, held March 8-9, 2014, at
the Larchmont Yacht Club, Larchmont, New York; and
WHEREAS, In a competitive field with over 30 different boating teams,
Jay Rhame and Katie Murphy performed spectacularly, winning the 2014
Stanley Bell Memorial Regatta, and defeating the two-time defending
champions in the process; and
WHEREAS, Over two exciting days of racing, this esteemed racing team
captured five first-place finishes, two second-place finishes, and four
third-place wins to easily secure the top prize at this prestigious
event; and
WHEREAS, With this victory, Jay Rhame and Katie Murphy have entered
contention for the Wharf Rat Challenge, a perpetual trophy awarded to
the overall winner of a series on Interclub Dinghy Regattas; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and these outstanding athletes have clearly made a
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jay Rhame and his crew, Katie Murphy, upon the occasion of
capturing the 2014 Stanley Bell Memorial Regatta; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jay Rhame and Katie Murphy.
