LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the Excellence in Disability
Leadership Award by the Capital District Center for Independence, Inc.
on April 24, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those busi-
nesses and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
ShopRite Supermarkets upon the occasion of its designation as recipient
of the Excellence in Disability Leadership Award by the Capital District
Center for Independence, Inc., to be celebrated at its 17th Annual Cele-
bration of Independence Awards Luncheon on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at
the Polonaise Banquet and Conference Center, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Individuals and businesses devoted to improving the quality
of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity and self-
worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and
WHEREAS, From time to time, society calls upon these individuals and
businesses to be recognized for the significance of their contributions
and efforts to assist others in developing the skills necessary to be
successful, productive citizens; and
WHEREAS, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. is being recognized for its
steadfast and outstanding commitment to the community which has promoted
inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, This exemplary business offers customers the use of
Caroline's Cart, a shopping cart created for special needs children; the
cart provides parents and caregivers a viable option to transport a
child through ShopRite Supermarkets while grocery shopping, without
simultaneously having to maneuver a wheelchair and a traditional grocery
cart; and
WHEREAS, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. has been truly dedicated to the
Capital District Center for Independence's (CDCI) Healthy Living
program; and
WHEREAS, In addition, a ShopRite Registered Dietician conducts monthly
healthy living seminars at CDCI for its consumers and community members
in an effort to encourage a positive and healthy lifestyle throughout
the communities they so ably serve; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when businesses
of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention,
they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. upon the occasion of its designation
as recipient of the Excellence in Disability Leadership Award by the
Capital District Center for Independence, Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc.
