LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Everton McLean upon the occasion of his
induction into the Bishop Maginn High School Hall of Fame as a Student-
Athlete on May 2, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Everton McLean upon the occasion of his induction into the Bishop Maginn
High School Hall of Fame as a Student-Athlete, to be celebrated at its
Induction Dinner on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Shaker Ridge Country Club,
Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A 1999 graduate of Bishop Maginn High School, Everton McLean,
affectionately known as Scooch, played JV Football for two years and
served as the team's Captain; he then became a two year Varsity starter
and was Captain in his Senior Year; and
WHEREAS, At running back, Everton McLean was an aggressive, physical,
tough runner and blocker on offense; on defense, at linebacker, he was
very quick, athletic, and an excellent tackler; he was selected to the
Big Ten All-Star team at linebacker; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Everton McLean played JV and Varsity Basketball,
and participated in Varsity Track for four years, during which time he
was the Captain in his Senior year; he was one of the top sprinters in
the Big Ten Athletic Conference; and
WHEREAS, Upon his graduation, Everton McLean attended Hobart and
William Smith Colleges where he graduated with a Media and Society
degree; he played Football for the College for four years, three of
which he was a starter, and two of which he served as the team's
Captain; and
WHEREAS, Active within his community, Everton McLean has been an
Assistant Varsity Football Coach at Bishop Maginn for 11 years and has
been the Defensive Coordinator for the past three seasons; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Everton McLean upon the occasion of his induction into the Bishop
Maginn High School Hall of Fame as a Student-Athlete; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Everton McLean.
