LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring William Reinisch posthumously upon the
occasion of his induction into the Bishop Maginn High School Hall of
Fame as a Student-Athlete on May 2, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
William Reinisch posthumously upon the occasion of his induction into
the Bishop Maginn High School Hall of Fame as a Student-Athlete, to be
celebrated at its Induction Dinner on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Shaker
Ridge Country Club, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A 1951 graduate of Cathedral Academy, William Reinisch,
affectionately known as Billy, lettered in football, basketball and
baseball; and
WHEREAS, Billy Reinisch pitched for Scully Post in the State Champion-
ship game of the American Legion in 1950, and was considered one of the
finest pitchers in Albany, New York; he also started at center on the
football team; and
WHEREAS, Upon his graduation from High School, Billy Reinisch enlisted
in the United States Navy in 1952 and honorably served for two years on
the Commissioned Destroyer, The USS Strong; and
WHEREAS, For 35 years, Billy Reinisch worked for the New York Tele-
phone Company where he served for two decades as a Union Vice-President
and President; and
WHEREAS, Billy Reinisch was the loving husband to Natalie Tomasone,
and together the couple raised six sons, Billy Jr., Jim, Joe, Tom, Pete
and Paul; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Billy Reinisch displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor William Reinisch posthumously upon the occasion of his induction
into the Bishop Maginn High School Hall of Fame as a Student-Athlete;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of William Reinisch.
