LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Gabrielle P. Turi upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Student Award by the Capital
District YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches

WHEREAS, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify
the ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Gabrielle P.
Turi upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Student
Award by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches to
be celebrated at its 17th Annual Outstanding Student and Educator cere-
mony on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Appel Inn in Altamont, New York;
and
WHEREAS, A junior at Bethlehem Central High School, Gabrielle P. Turi
has been volunteering at the First United Methodist Church in Delmar,
New York, since she was in fourth grade; and
WHEREAS, Gabrielle P. Turi has spent countless hours volunteering with
the vacation bible school, working as a volunteer actor and counselor;
during Sunday school, she helps with various activities which include:
cooking meals for the homeless shelter, monitoring children at church,
and helping to organize the Super Bowl fundraiser, which raises money
for the Bethlehem Food Pantry; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Gabrielle P. Turi represents the best development of the potential which
is inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Gabrielle P. Turi continued success throughout her school
years and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Gabrielle P. Turi upon the occasion of her designation as recipi-
ent of the Student Award by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and
Bethlehem branches; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Gabrielle P. Turi.
