LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Siena Marcelle upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Student Award by the Capital District
YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Siena Marcelle
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Student Award
by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches to be
celebrated at its 17th Annual Outstanding Student and Educator ceremony
on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Appel Inn in Altamont, New York; and
WHEREAS, A junior at Bethlehem Central High School, Siena Marcelle has
been a volunteer coach for the Bethlehem Middle School Girls' Lacrosse
Team for the past year; and
WHEREAS, Since seventh grade, Siena Marcelle has traveled on week long
service trips with her youth group to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Niagara
Falls, and Puerto Rico; these service trips have inspired her to bring
her services back to her community; and
WHEREAS, An avid volunteer, Siena Marcelle volunteers her time visit-
ing an elderly home, clearing rocks from fields so kids can use them to
play soccer, and working with teens that are in a drug rehabilitation
center; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Siena Marcelle helps organize the Ugly Sleeping
Bag Project which takes old sheets and blankets, and turns them into
warm sleeping bags for the homeless of Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Siena Marcelle represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Siena Marcelle continued success throughout her school
years and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Siena Marcelle upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Student Award by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and Beth-
lehem branches; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Siena Marcelle.
