LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kevin Dollard upon the occasion of his
induction into the Bishop Maginn High School Hall of Fame as a Student-
Athlete on May 2, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kevin
Dollard upon the occasion of his induction into the Bishop Maginn High
School Hall of Fame as a Student-Athlete, to be celebrated at its
Induction Dinner on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Shaker Ridge Country Club,
Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A 1973 graduate of Vincentian Institute, Kevin Dollard
lettered and excelled as a split end and safety in football, a second
baseman in baseball and a guard in basketball; in baseball, he was
consistently among the team leaders in batting average and on-base
percentage; he was an excellent base runner, often taking the extra
base; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Dollard began his high school athletic career with
Coach Bill Carter's undefeated freshman cross country team, and his love
of running would return in later years; and
WHEREAS, Today, an avid runner, Kevin Dollard has competed in over 250
road and trail races including 20 Dutchess County Classics, 11 Mohawk
Hudson River Marathons, 11 Boston Marathons, 14 Hangover Half Marathons,
12 Adirondack Distance Runs and 16 Troy Turkey Trots; he is a perennial
age group winner at all distances; and
WHEREAS, At 58 years of age, Kevin Dollard continues to race in two
marathons a year continually coming in with a sub-three hour time; he
trains on the Appalachian Trail and in the Shawangunk Mountains, north
of New Paltz; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, he has competed in the Empire State Games and in
the USA Track and Field National Masters Cross Country Races; he was
also featured in the January 2009 HUDSON VALLEY MAGAZINE article "Top of
Their Game"; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Dollard received a Bachelor of Science degree in Busi-
ness Administration from Plattsburgh State University in 1977 where he
participated in intramural sports; he is retired from a 35 year career
in Management with the 3M Company; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his loving wife of 34 years,
Denise, and their two beautiful daughters, Beth and Leigh, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kevin Dollard upon the occasion of his induction into the Bishop
Maginn High School Hall of Fame as a Student-Athlete; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kevin Dollard.
