LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jacob Stryker upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Student Award by the Capital District
YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jacob Stryker
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Student Award
by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches to be
celebrated at its 17th Annual Outstanding Student and Educator ceremony
on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Appel Inn in Altamont, New York; and
WHEREAS, A junior at Bethlehem Central High School, Jacob Stryker has
been extremely active in his community; for the past three years, he has
been volunteering with his peers in many groups; and
WHEREAS, Jacob Stryker has been greatly impacted by the Friendship
Circle, where he works one-on-one with children who have autism and
other spectrum disorders; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Jacob Stryker is involved with the Bethlehem
Youth Court, and in the summer, he is a camp counselor at Camp Givah,
where he is a magnet for the youth in the programming areas, and engages
the campers to participate during their time at camp; and
WHEREAS, With his sense of civic duty and his commitment to others,
Jacob Stryker represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Jacob Stryker continued success throughout his school years
and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jacob Stryker upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Student Award by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem
branches; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jacob Stryker.
