LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sean Setzen upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Student Award by the Capital District
YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sean Setzen
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Student Award
by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches to be
celebrated at its 17th Annual Outstanding Student and Educator ceremony
on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Appel Inn in Altamont, New York; and
WHEREAS, A sophomore at Guilderland High School, Sean Setzen is always
willing to do whatever is asked of him, and is very active in his school
and community; and
WHEREAS, Sean Setzen was asked, as a sophomore, to give tours to
incoming ninth graders at Guilderland High School; he also had the
opportunity to travel to Costa Rica with his class where he overcame a
fear of heights when he conquered one of the highest zip lines; and
WHEREAS, During his time in Costa Rica, Sean Setzen helped bring toys
to students at a local elementary school, and used his Spanish to commu-
nicate with them; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his many school activities, Sean Setzen
provides religious instruction to elementary children; and
WHEREAS, With his sense of civic duty and his commitment to others,
Sean Setzen represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Sean Setzen continued success throughout his school years
and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sean Setzen upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Student Award by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem
branches; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sean Setzen.
