LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert and Peg Hanson upon the occasion
of their designation for special recognition at the 2014 New York State
Senior Citizen's Day Celebration on May 6, 2014
WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert and Peg
Hanson upon the occasion of their designation for special recognition at
the 2014 New York State Senior Citizen's Day Celebration at the Hart
Theatre Lounge in the Egg, Albany, New York, on Tuesday, May 6, 2014;
and
WHEREAS, Each year, the New York State Office for the Aging recognizes
older adult volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to their
communities at its annual Senior Citizen's Day Celebration; and
WHEREAS, Robert and Peg Hanson, of Newark, New York, have given not
only of their time and energies but also of their competence, intelli-
gence and leadership and consequently have been designated for special
honor; and
WHEREAS, Robert Hanson has contributed over 35 years of service to his
community as a volunteer with the Newark Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance; he
has served as an active EMT Critical Care Technician, and has helped
lead the ambulance company as its director of operations and director of
equipment procurement; furthermore, he is a member of the organization's
board of directors; and
WHEREAS, Robert Hanson has also served on the Wayne County Senior
Advisory Council as both member and chairman, working diligently to
improve the quality of life for seniors in his town; and
WHEREAS, Equally commendable is Peg Hanson, with 50 years of volunteer
service to her community; she has selflessly given of herself to numer-
ous worthy organizations, including serving as an Advanced EMT with
Newark Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance, a member of the Wayne CAP RSVP
program, and volunteering at Newark Wayne Community Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Peg Hanson has served on numerous nonprofit boards and
committees; for 21 years, she has served as a board member and past
president of the Newark Kiwanis Club; she has also worked with various
committees at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Newark; in addition, she
is a member of the Wayne County Aging and Youth Advisory Council; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Robert and Peg Hanson have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which this esteemed couple have displayed
throughout their life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert and Peg Hanson upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition at the 2014 New York State Senior Citizen's Day
Celebration; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert and Peg Hanson.
