LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Cynthia Cameron upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Ambassador for Christ Inter-
national Outreach Ministry and Gateway Christian Center on Sunday, May
4, 2014

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons who
provide exemplary service, whether through participation in voluntary
programs, through unique personal achievement in their profession or
other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of good citizenship; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Cynthia Camer-
on upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Ambassador for Christ International Outreach Ministry and Gateway Chris-
tian Center at its 4th Annual Pastors and Women of Distinction Appreci-
ation Awards Gala on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Floral Terrace, Floral
Park, New York; and
WHEREAS, Cynthia Cameron is being recognized for her exemplary work
and commitment to her community, which serves to empower others; and
WHEREAS, Assistant Principal at Alden Terrace Elementary School, Cynt-
hia Cameron grew up in Queens, New York where she attended Catholic
School during the first 12 years of her educational career; she received
her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Speech Communi-
cation in June of 1999, from Hofstra University; and
WHEREAS, In September of the same year, Cynthia Cameron was assigned
her first teaching job as a fifth grade teacher at P.S. 68 in Ridgewood,
Queens where she worked with a diverse student population as well as
English Language Learners; during this time she also pursued her degree
in Literacy Studies at Hofstra University; and
WHEREAS, In 2001, Cynthia Cameron received a Master of Science degree
in Literacy Studies and became certified as a Literacy Specialist for
grades Kindergarten through 12; and
WHEREAS, With the belief that children need to be immersed in litera-
ture and with a passion for making a difference in the lives of her
students, Cynthia Cameron spent ten years as an Academic Intervention
Specialist for general education students and English Language Learners;
in addition, she taught English, Social Studies and Journalism; and
WHEREAS, Cynthia Cameron earned an Advanced Certificate in School
Administration in June of 2005 from Queens College, as well as her
certification as a School Administrator/Supervisor and School District
Administrator; she was subsequently hired to the esteemed position of
Assistant Principal in the Elmont School District in July of 2012; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cynthia Cameron upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Ambassador for Christ International Outreach Ministry
and Gateway Christian Center on Sunday, May 4, 2014, noting her unremit-
ting and compassionate faith and her exemplary service to God, man, and
her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Cynthia Cameron.
