LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Camesha Grant upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the Ambassador for Christ
International Outreach Ministry and Gateway Christian Center on Sunday,
May 4, 2014
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons who
provide exemplary service, whether through participation in voluntary
programs, through unique personal achievement in their profession or
other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of good citizenship; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Camesha
Grant upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the Ambassador for Christ International Outreach Ministry and Gateway
Christian Center at its 4th Annual Pastors and Women of Distinction
Appreciation Awards Gala on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Floral Terrace,
Floral Park, New York; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Camesha Grant is being recognized for her exemplary work
and commitment to her community, which serves to empower others; and
WHEREAS, Director of Member Services with Food Bank for New York City,
Dr. Camesha Grant is responsible for ensuring programs including soup
kitchens, pantries, schools, shelters, and senior centers, have the
capacity and resources needed to address the hunger crisis in New York
City; and
WHEREAS, In addition to food distribution, Dr. Camesha Grant plays a
key role in supporting Food Bank for New York City members with income
support, capacity building, nutrition education and advocacy; and
WHEREAS, With more than two decades of experience in the social
services arena, Dr. Camesha Grant spent more than 17 years with the New
York City Administration for Children's Services (ACS) and is truly
passionate about her work with the city's most vulnerable population;
and
WHEREAS, A leader, educator, mentor and a community advocate with a
mission driven purpose of creating opportunities for the underserved,
Dr. Camesha Grant held various positions during her tenure with ACS;
most notably, she served as Director of an evaluation system promoting
quality case practice and successful outcomes for children and families
involved in the child welfare system; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Camesha Grant holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors
from Virginia State University; she earned a Master's of Social Work
degree as well as a Ph.D. in Social Work with a concentration in Chil-
dren and Families from Fordham University, where she was a Council on
Social Work Education fellow; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Dr. Camesha Grant is a Licensed Master Social
Worker and has served as an adjunct professor at Fordham University in
the Graduate School of Social Service since 2007; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Camesha Grant upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Ambassador for Christ International Outreach Ministry
and Gateway Christian Center on Sunday, May 4, 2014, noting her unremit-
ting and compassionate faith and her exemplary service to God, man, and
her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Camesha Grant.
