LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Alexander L. Rosier upon the occasion of
his induction into the National Junior College Athletic Association Hall
of Fame on May 9, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who have distinguished themselves through their
exceptional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Alexander L. Rosier upon the occasion of his induction into the National
Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame, to be celebrated on
Friday, May 9, 2014, at Nassau Community College, Garden City, New York;
and
WHEREAS, The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA),
founded in 1938, is an association of community college and junior
college athletic departments throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, NJCAA was established in 1937 when a group of junior college
representatives met to organize an association which would promote and
supervise a national program of junior college sports and activities
consistent with the educational objectives of junior colleges; and
WHEREAS, Alexander L. Rosier began his athletic career at Mineola High
School where he was an All-County in Lacrosse; he went on to play for
Herkimer County Community College where he was instrumental in the
team's National Championships in both 1992 and 1993; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Captain of the Herkimer County Community College
1993 National Championship team, Alexander L. Rosier, the same year,
earned the First Team All-American Award as a goalie; he graduated from
the college with an outstanding undefeated record of 35-0; and
WHEREAS, After receiving a scholarship in 1994 to play lacrosse for
Syracuse University, Alexander L. Rosier and the Orangemen went on to
win the National Championship by defeating the University of Maryland in
1995; and
WHEREAS, Alexander L. Rosier was drafted in 2001 by the Major Lacrosse
League and played for the New Jersey Pride; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Williston Park, New York, Alexander L. Rosier
currently serves as a member of the New York City Department of
Corrections Emergency Service Unit at Rikers Island; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his loving wife, Karen, and his
three beautiful daughters, Olivia, Ashley and Yvonne, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Alexander L. Rosi-
er; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Alexander L. Rosier
for his extraordinary athletic accomplishments which are a tribute to
his skill, dedication and commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations with
praise and pride to honor Alexander L. Rosier upon the occasion of his
induction into the National Junior College Athletic Association Hall of
Fame on May 9, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Alexander L. Rosier.
