LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Alexis Eggleton upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Achievement Award by
the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS. Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Alexis Eggleton upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2014 Distinguished Achievement Award by the Sullivan County Chamber of
Commerce; this auspicious occasion was celebrated at the Chamber's 23rd
Annual Pride Awards Gala on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at the Villa Roma
Resort, Callicoon, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to
bringing together the business and professional interests of Sullivan
County, helping companies accomplish collectively what they cannot
achieve on their own; the organization is focused on the growth and
retention of its member businesses, serving as a point of contact and
center of information, facilitation and exchange; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce recognizes
certain individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the
community, to the goals of the Chamber, and to the quality of life in
Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, Alexis Eggleton has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, A native of Roscoe, New York, Alexis Eggleton serves her
community as Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club Wallkill
Chapter, which serves several schools in the region, including five
schools in Sullivan County; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from Ohio State University, Alexis Eggleton
spent over six years as Legislative Aide/Communications Director for the
Sullivan County Legislature; in this position, she was responsible for
writing speeches and conducting policy analysis; she was particularly
skilled in organizing and raising funds for special events; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, this remarkable woman assumed the duties of execu-
tive director at the Boys and Girls Club of the Town of Wallkill, using
her talents to expand the scope and geographic reach of the program's
efforts; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of the Club's Advanced Leadership Program, Alexis
Eggleton is committed to leading her organization in its drive to help
children discover new interests and abilities, through arts and educa-
tional opportunities which lead to great careers; and
WHEREAS, Alexis Eggleton continues to work diligently to provide the
young men and women in her care with outstanding supervision, positive
role models and guidance in making the right choices in life; further-
more, club members are required to perform a community service project
once a month; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Alexis Eggleton has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of young people which this exceptional woman has
displayed throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Alexis Eggleton upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2014 Distinguished Achievement Award by the Sullivan County Cham-
ber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Alexis Eggleton.
