LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ken Aneser upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2014 Citizen of the Year Award by the
Garden City Chamber of Commerce on May 9, 2014

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Ken Aneser has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ken Aneser
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014 Citizen of
the Year Award by the Garden City Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated
at its 12th Annual Pineapple Ball on Friday, May 9, 2014, at the Garden
City Hotel, Garden City, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Citizen of the Year Award was established in 1970 to
recognize outstanding service and efforts which have contributed to the
high standards, quality of life and well-being of the Garden City commu-
nity and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Ken Aneser has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Ken Aneser, Race Director of
the Garden City Turkey Trot, the current Race Committee has taken the
Turkey Trot event to new heights; leveraging technology and marketing,
and with tremendous support from hundreds of volunteers and the communi-
ty at large, year after year, the race has improved and grown to over
5,000 runners; and
WHEREAS, The Garden City Turkey Trot, which began in 1978, is Long
Island's largest and oldest Thanksgiving Day road race; and
WHEREAS, Since assuming control of the race in 2007, Ken Aneser has
been instrumental in the success of the Garden City Turkey Trot and has
led the Race Committee in raising significant funds for the Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the American Red
Cross and the INN; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Ken Aneser has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Ken Aneser has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ken Aneser upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2014 Citizen of the Year Award by the Garden City Chamber of
Commerce on May 9, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ken Aneser.
