LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Melinda Ketcham Meddaugh upon the occa-
sion of her selection as a Young Professional Up and Comer in the Busi-
ness Community by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young adults within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Melinda Ketcham Meddaugh has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Melinda Ketcham Meddaugh upon the occasion of her selection as a Young
Professional Up and Comer in the Business Community by the SULLIVAN
COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and
WHEREAS, Melinda Ketcham Meddaugh, Agriculture and Natural Resource
Issue Leader at Cornell Cooperative Extension and Agriculture Planner
for Sullivan County, was selected for this esteemed recognition for
being hardworking, ambitious, and creative; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Monticello High School, SUNY Sullivan, SUNY
Purchase, and Vermont Law, where she received her master's degree in
environmental law and policy, Melinda Ketcham Meddaugh gives back to her
community in both her professional and volunteer life; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Melinda Ketcham Meddaugh's career is a shared
position, serving as the Agriculture and Natural Resource Issue Leader
at Cornell Cooperative Extension, and Agriculture Planner for Sullivan
County; her primary projects center on agriculture, and environmental
and economic development; and
WHEREAS, At Cornell Cooperative Extension, Melinda Ketcham Meddaugh
works closely on the greenhouse and high tunnel project, which is a
kickoff to year-round vegetable production classes for farmers and non-
farmers alike, and leads the educators who offer livestock and master
gardening; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure for Sullivan County, Melinda Ketcham
Meddaugh works on the Farmland Protection Plan, aimed at economic devel-
opment and protection of the county's farms; and
WHEREAS, With volunteerism as her starting board, Melinda Ketcham
Meddaugh looked to enhancing her Rock Hill community; as President of
the Rock Hill Business Association, she worked with Sullivan Renais-
sance, and the Rock Hill Volunteer Fire Department to create the area
that is home to Rock Hill's Farmers Market, which gave access to local
foods, allowed local farmers to market their goods, and started this
determined woman on her path of agriculture enhancement and development;
and
WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her husband and project partner,
Josh, who feels privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Melinda Ketcham Meddaugh upon the occasion of her selection as a
Young Professional Up and Comer in the Business Community by the SULLI-
VAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Melinda Ketcham Meddaugh.
