LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Annie Dyess upon the occasion of her
designation as a Mother of Pearl by the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute
on May 10, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those individuals of firm belief and commitment who have
devoted their purposeful lives to the service of faith and community;
Annie Dyess is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Annie Dyess upon the occasion of her designation as a Mother of Pearl by
the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute to be celebrated at its 6th Annual
Mothers of Pearl Extravaganza on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Albany
Ramada Plaza Hotel in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A pillar in her community, Annie Dyess is being recognized as
a strong woman who has shown extraordinary wisdom, courage and strength
in her community; and
WHEREAS, Annie Dyess has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; she has volunteered at Albany United Methodist
Church for many years, and is an avid singer in her church; and
WHEREAS, This altruistic woman is acknowledged for her philanthropic
contributions to our society which enhance the basic humanity among us
all; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her three sons, and she is the
loving grandmother of two grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Annie Dyess has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Annie Dyess has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Annie Dyess upon the occasion of her designation as a Mother of
Pearl by the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute on May 10, 2014; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Annie Dyess.
