LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Erin King Sweeney upon the occasion of
her designation as a 2014 Long Island Center for Business and Profes-
sional Women Achiever

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding individuals who distinguish themselves through their excep-
tional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Erin
King Sweeney upon the occasion of her designation as a 2014 Long Island
Center for Business and Professional Women Achiever; this auspicious
occasion will be celebrated at the Center's 35th Annual Achievers'
Awards Gala, to be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014; and
WHEREAS, For more than thirty-five years, the Long Island Center for
Business and Professional Women has been dedicated to advancing women in
business, industry and the professions; and
WHEREAS, The Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women
celebrates and honors women who have made significant contributions in
their fields, are leaders, mentors, and who have opened doors for other
women to help foster their rise in business, the professions and in
their community; and
WHEREAS, A partner at McBreen & Kopko, Erin King Sweeney has over a
decade of experience in aviation including serving as General Counsel,
United States of America, for Swiss International Air Lines Ltd., and
Director of Human Resources; she is also President of King Sweeney Stra-
tegies LLC, a strategic consulting business; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Long Island, Erin King Sweeney has extensive
knowledge of all aspects of federal and state rules and regulations
impacting domestic and international aviation, as well as of day-to-day
labor and employment issues; in addition, she has broad experience with
the DOT, FAA, TSA, and CBP; and
WHEREAS, Erin King Sweeney received both her Bachelor of Arts degree,
and Juris Doctorate from the University of Notre Dame; she is licensed
to practice law in New York State, and is a member of the New York and
Nassau County Bar Associations; and
WHEREAS, As a member of both the International Association of Women in
Aviation and the Society for Human Resources Management, Erin King Swee-
ney is a speaker at industry conferences; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Erin King Sweeney was honored by the Federal
Bureau of Investigation for her information-gathering work after Septem-
ber 11, 2001, was named 2013 Businessperson of the Year by the New York
State Chiefs' Benevolent Association, and inducted as an honorary chief;
and
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Erin King Sweeney serves on the
Board of Trustees of Holy Child Academy, is a founding member of the
Pops Culturalists of the New York Pops, a member of the Circle of Red of
the American Heart Association, and a corporate member of the Nassau
County Museum of Arts; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, John, and their
two children, Jack and KatieMae, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their profession and community,

and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Erin King Sweeney upon the occasion of her designation as a 2014
Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women Achiever; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Erin King Sweeney.
