LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Officer Norman J. Mann upon the occasion
of his retirement after more than 36 years of distinguished service to
the Town of Mount Hope Police Department

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Officer Norman
J. Mann upon the occasion of his retirement after more than 36 years of
distinguished service to the Town of Mount Hope Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Officer Norman J. Mann began his illustrious career with the
Town of Mount Hope Police Department on September 12, 1977, graduating
from the Police Academy in Chester, New York on February 9, 1978;
throughout his tenure he has served as Police Officer, Sergeant, Officer
in Charge, and Chief; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, Officer Norman J. Mann was the proud recipient of
the Dedicated Service Award for the Town of Mount Hope Police Depart-
ment; and
WHEREAS, In addition to his service as an officer of the law, Norman
J. Mann served as a Corrections Officer for the State of New York from
January of 1979 until 2005, working at the Otisville State Prison for
the majority of his career; and
WHEREAS, Active within his community, Officer Norman J. Mann has been
a member of the Village of Otisville Fire Department since 1970, where
he currently serves in the renowned position of Chief; he also served on
the Village of Otisville Board as a Trustee for one term; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his esteemed career with the Town of Mount Hope
Police Department, Officer Norman J. Mann served with dedication,
professionalism, integrity, and was a true asset to the agency as well
as to the residents of his community; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 10 years, Regina,
as well as his children and four grandchildren, all of whom feel privi-
leged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Officer Norman J. Mann upon the occasion of his retirement after
more than 36 years of distinguished service to the Town of Mount Hope
Police Department; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Officer Norman J. Mann.
