LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jeffrey R. Miller, Esq. upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the Man of Distinction Award on
May 22, 2014
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jeffrey R.
Miller, Esq. upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Man of Distinction Award, to be celebrated at the 7th Annual Men of
Distinction and Women of Valor Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 22,
2014; and
WHEREAS, The Men of Distinction and Women of Valor Awards Ceremony is
held each year to recognize and pay just tribute to outstanding and
accomplished individuals whose leadership roles have had a significant
impact on the daily lives of the people of the State of New York, and
who have gone above and beyond the call of duty; and
WHEREAS, Jeffrey R. Miller, Esq. has represented companies and indi-
viduals in proceedings before the United States District Courts, New
York State Trial and Appellate Courts, the New York State Attorney
General, City and County Departments of Consumer Affairs, and the Better
Business Bureau; and
WHEREAS, Whether negotiating fair and reasonable contracts, resolving
disputes outside of court, or litigating, Jeffrey R. Miller, Esq.'s
extensive knowledge and experience on a broad range of complex commer-
cial litigation matters renders him an invaluable asset to his clients;
and
WHEREAS, A recipient of the Anti-Defamation League's Belkin Award for
his pro-bono work on Civil Rights matters, Jeffrey R. Miller, Esq. was
appointed to Brooklyn's Community Board 18 by Brooklyn Borough President
Marty Markowitz and Councilman Lewis Fidler; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Jeffrey R. Miller, Esq. is the Vice
President of Bergen Beach Civic Association, associate of the Nathan R.
Sobel-Kings County American Inn of Court, and Counsel of New York State
Fraternal Order of Police Surgeons' Lodge SA03; and
WHEREAS, Jeffrey R. Miller, Esq. has participated in numerous clinical
and pro-bono programs, and was selected by Barry Scheck to participate
in the internationally renowned, "Innocence Project" while a student at
the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law; and
WHEREAS, Jeffrey R. Miller, Esq. is the author of numerous publica-
tions and magazine articles including "Am I Entitled To A Receipt?" "Bad
Faith in New York," "Continuing Care Exception in Medical Malpractice,"
and "Unknown Judgments - What Can I Do?"; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jeffrey R. Miller, Esq. upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Man of Distinction Award on May 22, 2014; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jeffrey R. Miller, Esq.
