LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Debbie Tiamfook upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Woman of Valor Award on May 22, 2014
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Debbie Tiam-
fook upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Woman of
Valor Award, to be celebrated at the 7th Annual Men of Distinction and
Women of Valor Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 22, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Men of Distinction and Women of Valor Awards Ceremony is
held each year to recognize and pay just tribute to outstanding and
accomplished individuals whose leadership roles have had a significant
impact on the daily lives of the people of the State of New York, and
who have gone above and beyond the call of duty; and
WHEREAS, A true leader who is always willing to serve, Debbie Tiamfook
cares deeply for her community, and has always strived to improve the
lives of the disenfranchised and disempowered; and
WHEREAS, Debbie Tiamfook is the founder and owner of New Wave Manage-
ment LLC, a small business consulting and management company; she is
also the co-founder and former Chief Financial Officer for the New Amer-
ican Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding woman is adept at pioneering new concepts
and has birthed, or played a major role in spawning more than a dozen
companies and charitable organizations; and
WHEREAS, As part of her community activism, Debbie Tiamfook is a proud
member and elder of Redemption Community World Ministries Inc., producer
for UTV Global Media Network, facilitator for Circle of Hope Small Busi-
ness Network, co-founder and consultant of Canarsie Disaster Recovery
Committee, co-founder of Foresee Community Outreach Center Inc., found-
ing member of the Pride of Barbados, Lodge No. 1, member of the Friends
United Block Association, New York Acorn, APAC, and member of the Brook-
lyn Clarendon Meadows Lions Club; and
WHEREAS, Despite spending her time with all of her community activ-
ities and social networking, Debbie Tiamfook enjoys reading, sports with
the family, and writing; currently, she is working on white paper CANAR-
SIE ALIVE! THE WAY FORWARD POST HURRICANE SANDY; and
WHEREAS, A team player, strategic thinker, long range planner, and
skilled grassroots organizer, Debbie Tiamfook is a Dyson College Associ-
ate Fellow; and
WHEREAS, Debbie Tiamfook has received numerous community and business
awards and citations including the New York City Pacesetter Award, and
FUBA Community Service Award; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her six children, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Debbie Tiamfook upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Woman of Valor Award on May 22, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Debbie Tiamfook.
