LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the United
Way of Rockland County to be celebrated on May 30, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations which devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of the United Way of Rockland County to be
celebrated at its Anniversary Gala on Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Nyack
Seaport in Nyack, New York; and
WHEREAS, The United Way of Rockland County will celebrate this auspi-
cious milestone of five decades of service to the people who live and
work in Rockland County; and
WHEREAS, The United Way of Rockland County is a solid cornerstone of
the community, and stands ready to continue its important mission of
increasing the value and impact of community support and resources
through collaborations that advance the common good for many years to
come; and
WHEREAS, This worthy organization's vision is a community where indi-
viduals and families have the skills to achieve a quality education,
economic security, and healthy lifestyle; and
WHEREAS, With the commitment of its volunteers, non-profit, corporate
and government partners, as well as all past and present members of the
United Way Board of Directors, the United Way of Rockland County is
proud of its achievements which could not have been accomplished without
their continued support; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the United Way of Rockland County to
be celebrated on May 30, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the United Way of Rockland County.
