LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Schoharie Valley FFA upon the occa-
sion of its designation as 2014 Grand Marshal of the Schoharie Memorial
Day Parade
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those distinguished individuals and organizations who devote
their time and energies to the service of their community and profes-
sion, participating in civic affairs and enhancing the character and
quality of life for all citizens; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Schoharie Valley FFA upon the occasion of its designation as 2014 Grand
Marshal of the Schoharie Memorial Day Parade, to be celebrated on Thurs-
day, May 22, 2014, in Schoharie, New York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1928, the National FFA, is a youth organiza-
tion dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students
by developing their potential for leadership, personal growth and career
success through agricultural education and hands-on learning; and
WHEREAS, The Schoharie Valley FFA is being named Grand Marshal of the
Schoharie Memorial Day Parade in recognition of its outstanding work in
the community and its contributions to the fabric of American life; and
WHEREAS, This year, the Schoharie Valley FFA is celebrating its 80th
year of fulfilling its association's motto, "Learning to Do, Doing to
Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve"; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed organization has been the recipient of numerous
accolades at the local, state, and national levels; the group has won
awards in a variety of categories including farm business management,
livestock judging, extemporaneous speaking, and tractor driving; and
WHEREAS, In the past two years, the Schoharie Valley FFA has won
fourth place in the National Hoard's Dairyman contest and first place in
the New York State Poultry Judging Contest; and
WHEREAS, Agriculture is one of the foundations of New York State and
vitally important to the physical and economic well-being of its people;
and
WHEREAS, After eight decades of service, the Schoharie Valley FFA
continues its mission of preparing its members to become the innovators
and leaders of tomorrow, confident that they will continue America's
great farming tradition for years to come; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those organiza-
tions which enhance the quality of life in their community and have
shown a long and sustained commitment to the maintenance of high stand-
ards in their profession, certainly have earned the recognition and
applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Schoharie Valley FFA upon the occasion of its designation as
2014 Grand Marshal of the Schoharie Memorial Day Parade; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Schoharie Valley FFA.
