LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Hicksville Community Council upon
the occasion of hosting its 44th Anniversary Dinner, and paying tribute
to this year's honorees
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Hicksville Community Council upon the occasion of hosting its 44th
Anniversary Dinner, and to pay tribute to this year's honorees; this
auspicious occasion will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at
the William M. Gouse Jr. VFW Hall, Hicksville, New York; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Hicksville Community Council is to present
programs to the general public in an attempt to educate the public on
all issues and opinions within the Hamlet of Hicksville which could
affect the quality of life of its residents; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed organization's 44th Anniversary Dinner will
honor those citizens who have made special contributions to the better-
ment of the Hicksville community; it will be highlighted by the presen-
tation of awards, including the President's Award, Community Service
Award, and the Dick Evers Award; and
WHEREAS, Stan Kobin is being honored with the President's Award in
recognition of his many years of outstanding service; he is past-Presi-
dent, and current 1st Vice President of the Hicksville Community Coun-
cil, as well as the past-President of the Kiwanis Club of Hicksville and
the Kiwanis Foundation of Hicksville; furthermore, he has worked exten-
sively with the Hicksville Garden Civic Association and the Hicksville
Boys & Girls Club; and
WHEREAS, The Point Church is being honored with the Community Service
Award for the numerous fund-raising events it holds in conjunction with
schools, fellow churches, and other organizations for the benefit of
others; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Samodulski is be recognized with the Dick Evers Award
for his charitable efforts serving as director of the parish ministry
and overseer of the food pantry at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Hicks-
ville, New York; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown for the bene-
fit of others which these honorees have displayed; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Hicksville Community Council upon the occasion of host-
ing its 44th Anniversary Dinner; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned honorees.
