LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the
Henrietta Town Hall in Monroe County, New York, to be celebrated June
14, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to support the preser-
vation and commemoration of historical landmarks which express and
preserve the social and cultural origins of this great State of New
York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of the Henrietta Town Hall in Monroe County,
New York, to be celebrated on June 14, 2014; and
WHEREAS, June 14, 1964 marked the first and only time in Henrietta's
146-year history a building was erected for town offices; the new build-
ing housed town offices, a meeting room, supervisor's office, conference
room, and town library; and
WHEREAS, The Henrietta Town Hall was built by Corgan and Balestiere
Architects and Engineers; it is located in the geographical center of
town, reflecting the cobblestone architecture for which Henrietta is
noted, and walls of field stone are used in several places; above the
entrance is a canopy consisting of five architectural barrel vaults, a
design derived from Romanesque architecture, but modern in feeling; and
WHEREAS, On June 21, 1989, a rededication ceremony was held; and
WHEREAS, The construction of a building, in its historical perspec-
tive, symbolizes the will, the circumstances and the resolve of a people
and a community; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of the Henrietta Town Hall's rich history and
enduring contribution to the heritage of the State of New York, it is
the intent of this Legislative Body to join in the celebration, so that
present and future generations may come to appreciate the unique signif-
icance which its history plays in the progression of our State and
Nation's evolution; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Henrietta Town Hall in Monroe
County, New York, to be celebrated June 14, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Henrietta Town Hall, Monroe County, New York.
