LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Harriet Jenkins upon the occasion of her
retirement after 20 years of distinguished service to the Chenango Coun-
ty Board of Elections

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Harriet Jenkins upon the occasion of her retirement after 20 years of
distinguished service to the Chenango County Board of Elections; and
WHEREAS, Born on February 14, 1948, the youngest of seven to Joy and
Alda Frey, Harriet grew up in Jerseytown, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, She graduated from Melville High School in 1967, and moved to
Harrisburg, accepting a job working for the Commonwealth of Pennsylva-
nia; and
WHEREAS, Two years later, Harriet met her future husband, the loving
Edd Jenkins, and on Valentine's Day of 1970, Harriet's 22 Birthday, they
were married; the couple was blessed with two children, Patrick Edward
and Jennifer Joy; and
WHEREAS, Today, Harriet Jenkins is the proud grandmother of five
grandchildren, Noah, Josh, Megan, Danica and Hayley, all of whom she
intends to spend a great deal of time with upon retirement; and
WHEREAS, In 1985, the Jenkins family relocated to Liverpool, New York,
before moving to the City of Norwich; it was shortly after moving when
Harriet accepted a position with the County of Chenango; and
WHEREAS, Harriet Jenkins became a Senior Clerk at the Chenango County
Board of Elections before undertaking the esteemed position of Commis-
sioner, the position she has held ever since, committing countless hours
to ensuring the efficiency and integrity of Chenango's elections; and
WHEREAS, Throughout these years, Harriet Jenkins rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Chenango County Board of
Elections earning the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as Commissioner, Harriet Jenkins served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of
duty; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Harriet Jenkins upon the occasion of her retirement after 20 years
of distinguished service to the Chenango County Board of Elections; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Harriet Jenkins.
