LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Brendan Deery upon the occasion of
receiving the Most Outstanding Delegate Award from Hofstra University

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Brendan Deery upon the occasion of receiving the Most Outstanding Dele-
gate Award from Hofstra University at its 3rd Annual Model United
Nations Conference; and
WHEREAS, At this conference, the students who attended were assigned
countries and separated into six different subcommittees where they each
took their assigned country's views on different real world problems;
and
WHEREAS, The students then spent the weekend debating solutions for
problems ranging from World War III to the issue of the Kurdish people
in Syria, Turkey, Iran, and Iraq; and
WHEREAS, A New Hyde Park resident and Kellenberg Memorial High School
senior, Brendan Deery received the Most Outstanding Delegate Award in
the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee category; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Bren-
dan Deery now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by his teachers, coaches
and parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Brendan Deery upon the occasion of receiving the Most Outstanding
Delegate Award from Hofstra University; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Brendan Deery.
