LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Tom's Greenhouses upon the occa-
sion of celebrating its 60th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those prominent businesses of the State of New York whose focus
and intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in its
community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Tom's Greenhouses upon the occasion of celebrating its 60th Anni-
versary; and
WHEREAS, Tom Esposito, founder of Tom's Greenhouses, studied horticul-
ture at SUNY Cobleskill before leaving to fight in the Korean War; upon
his return home, in 1954, he bought and restored the abandoned green-
house on Montgomery Street in Goshen, New York; and
WHEREAS, Along with his loving wife, Phyllis, Tom Esposito ran Tom's
Greenhouses while raising three children, Gary, Steven and Carol, each
of whom worked for the family business as kids, and during summers while
in college; and
WHEREAS, For six decades, Tom's Greenhouses has been a greenhouse as
well as a full-service florist; in the early years, before rapid trans-
portation, the Esposito's cut flowers and grew the majority of their own
holiday plants, such as lilies and poinsettias; and
WHEREAS, In 1992, Tom's son, Gary Esposito, took over the family busi-
ness along with his wife, Jane, who today, does floral design along with
the bookkeeping; Gary and Jane have three children, Melissa, Emily, and
Thomas, who is named for his grandfather; and
WHEREAS, Proud to be carrying on the family tradition and committed to
customer service, Gary Esposito continues to give jobs to local kids and
provide the community with everything they could need in the way of
flowers, plants, shrubs, and trees; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and businesses of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Tom's Greenhouses' distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Tom's Greenhouses upon the occasion of celebrating its 60th
Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tom's Greenhouses, Goshen, New York.
