LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Veronica Roddy upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Volunteer of Excellence Award by the
Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York on June 11, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
the dedicated efforts of those individuals from across the State of New
York who volunteer their time and energies in service to the community;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Veronica Roddy upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Volunteer of Excellence Award by the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New
York, to be celebrated on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Holiday Inn
Express, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes volunteers who have contrib-
uted outstanding service while partnering directly with girls in any
pathway to implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through use of
the National Program Portfolio, or who have contributed outstanding
service in support of the council's mission delivery to girl and adult
members; and
WHEREAS, A true pillar within her community, Veronica Roddy's distin-
guished service as Girl Scout Troop Leader and volunteer merits the
recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and serv-
ing can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Veronica Roddy has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Veronica Roddy has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend individ-
uals of outstanding character, who have shown initiative and commitment
toward constantly pursuing higher goals for themselves, and acting as
role models of leadership to be emulated by both peers and young people;
now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Veronica Roddy upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Volunteer of Excellence Award by the Girl Scouts of Northeastern
New York on June 11, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Veronica Roddy.
