LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Community 190 upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the President's Award by the Girl Scouts of
Northeastern New York on June 11, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
the dedicated efforts of those individuals and organizations from across
the State of New York who volunteer their time and energies in service
to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Community 190 upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of the
President's Award by the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York, to be
celebrated on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Holiday Inn Express,
Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award recognizes the efforts of a service
team, committee, or volunteer team, whose exemplary service in support
of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience surpassed team goals
and resulted in a significant, measurable impact toward reaching the
council's overall goals; and
WHEREAS, A true pillar within its community, Community 190's distin-
guished service and volunteerism merits the recognition and respectful
tribute of this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and serv-
ing can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of its community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Community 190 has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
and organizations for the benefit of others which Community 190 has
displayed since its inception; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Community 190 upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the President's Award by the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York on
June 11, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Community 190.
