LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Francis Greenburger upon the occasion of
his designation as Honoree at the 26th Annual Columbia Memorial Hospital
Ball on June 7, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of organizations,
institutions and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Francis Greenburger upon the occasion of his designation as Honoree at
the 26th Annual Columbia Memorial Hospital Ball, to be held at The Point
in Catskill, New York on Saturday, June 7, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Each year, Columbia Memorial Hospital celebrates its legacy,
begun in 1893, of providing quality health care to the people and commu-
nities of Columbia, Greene and Dutchess Counties with its Annual Colum-
bia Memorial Hospital Ball; and
WHEREAS, The Columbia Memorial Hospital Ball honors those individuals
whose active involvement and generous support greatly assist the hospi-
tal in its mission to provide the community with safe, high quality,
comprehensive health care services in a dignified and compassionate
environment; and
WHEREAS, Francis Greenburger is the founder, chairman, chief executive
officer and guiding force behind Time Equities, Inc., a successful real
estate firm with extensive properties worldwide; he is well known
throughout the real estate industry for his ability to anticipate real
estate trends and changing market conditions; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed man has been a donor, leader, and friend of
Columbia Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years; and
WHEREAS, A steadfast supporter of the hospital's mission, Francis
Greenburger was Chair of the Fulfilling the Dream capital campaign, and
was co-Chair of the 2nd Hundred Years of Caring campaign, as well as a
significant philanthropic contributor to both; and
WHEREAS, Francis Greenburger is the top sponsor of the hospital's
annual tennis tournament which is named in his honor, and is a major
donor to the annual appeal each year; and
WHEREAS, Francis Greenburger has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man is the founder and principal benefactor
of Omi International Arts Center, a 20 year-old not-for-profit arts
colony and educational center which hosts residency programs for visual
artists, writers, dancers, musicians, and architects from all over the
world; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Francis Greenburger founded the Greenburger
Center for Social and Criminal Justice, which advocates for reforms to
the criminal justice system, and is also an active board member of
several not-for-profit organizations; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Francis Greenburger has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Isabelle Autones, and
their four children, Morgan, Noah, Julia, and Claire, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which this consummate philanthropist has
displayed throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Francis Greenburger upon the occasion of his designation as Hono-
ree at the Columbia-Memorial Hospital's 26th Annual Columbia Memorial
Hospital Ball; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Francis Greenburger.
