LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Regina Myer upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by St. Ann's Warehouse on June 10,
2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those individuals and organizations who have brought enter-
tainment and cultural enrichment to the citizens of the great State of
New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Regina Myer upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by St. Ann's Warehouse, to be celebrated at its Gala: Rosanne on the
River, on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 2,
Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, For more than three decades, St. Ann's Warehouse has
presented an eclectic body of work that meets at the intersection of
theater and rock and roll; since 2001, the organization has helped
vitalize the Brooklyn waterfront, becoming one of New York City's most
important and compelling live performance destinations; and
WHEREAS, Known for activating historic and found spaces, St. Ann's
Warehouse is currently transforming the Tobacco Warehouse into a year-
round cultural center and community hub in the heart of Brooklyn Bridge
Park; and
WHEREAS, As President of Brooklyn Bridge Park since 2007, Regina Myer
is responsible for the creation and construction of Brooklyn Bridge Park
for the City of New York, overseeing design, construction, maintenance,
and operations; and
WHEREAS, The 85-acre park, one of the most significant public invest-
ments on the waterfront, stretches approximately 1.3 miles along the
East River from Atlantic Avenue to north of the Manhattan Bridge; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Regina Myer, Brooklyn Bridge
Park has been the recipient of awards and accolades from such organiza-
tions as the Municipal Art Society and the American Institute of Archi-
tects; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Park Slope, New York, Regina Myer holds both a
Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Urban Planning from the University
of Michigan; and
WHEREAS, Prior to her role in the esteemed position of President,
Regina Myer served as the Senior Vice President for Planning and Design
at the Hudson Yards Development Corporation and as Brooklyn Borough
Director for the New York City Planning Department; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her loving husband, and her two
beautiful children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life
and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Regina Myer has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Regina Myer upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by St. Ann's Warehouse on June 10, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Regina Myer.
