LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Simone Stein upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Outstanding Orthopaedic Nurse Practice
Award by the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality of life in the communities across this great State of New York
is enriched by the diligence and compassionate commitment of those indi-
viduals whose singular purpose is the care and welfare of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Simone Stein upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Outstanding Orthopaedic Nurse Practice Award by the National Association
of Orthopaedic Nurses which was celebrated at its 2014 Annual Congress
on Saturday, May 17, 2014, in Las Vegas, Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Simone Stein, Registered Nurse and Manager of Orange Regional
Medical Center's Bone and Joint Center, is a member of the National
Association of Orthopaedic Nurses who has provided high quality health
care to the orthopaedic patient, and has made outstanding contributions
over her career to the field of orthopaedic nursing; and
WHEREAS, The award selection task force evaluates candidates on
several criteria including: consistently meeting the physical, psycho-
logical, social, spiritual and educational needs of the orthopaedic
patient and family; using innovative ideas in planning the care of the
orthopaedic patient and various approaches to patient care problems;
stimulating nursing colleagues to improve patient care by contributing
to an atmosphere that encourages new concepts and skills; serving as a
role model to nursing colleagues and other disciplines; effectively and
sensitively communicating with members of the health care team; creating
an atmosphere of mutual respect with patients and members of the health
care team; and consistently maintaining a high degree of clinical compe-
tence and current orthopaedic knowledge; Simone Stein is one such indi-
vidual; and
WHEREAS, Simone Stein's dedication to the continual improvement of
patient care is evidenced by her efforts in researching and implementing
best practices, policy development, promoting education, and awareness
of the orthopaedic nurse's role in the delivery of care; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of her duties and responsibil-
ities, Simone Stein's ongoing efforts and notable achievements have
significantly contributed to bettering the quality of life in her commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Simone Stein continuously displays
initiative and an unrelenting commitment when pursuing the highest of
goals, and she has served as a role model of leadership to be emulated
by all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend individ-
uals whose professional commitment and dedication enhance the excellence
of health care in their community and the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her illustrious career, Simone Stein has served
her patients with compassion and care; she has contributed to the main-
tenance and enhancement of the highest professional standards, sharing
with others her knowledge and expertise, as well as her dedication and
commitment to quality health care; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Simone Stein upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Outstanding Orthopaedic Nurse Practice Award by the National Associ-
ation of Orthopaedic Nurses; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Simone Stein.
