LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Reverend Leonard D. Comithier, Jr.
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by Green
Tech High Charter School

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Reverend Leonard D. Comithier, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition by Green Tech High Charter School; he will be
honored at its First Annual Green Tech High Honors the Community Banquet
on Friday, June 13, 2014, at UAlbany, SUNY, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Leonard D. Comithier, Jr. has been the pastor of
Macedonia Baptist Church of Albany for more than 26 years; this distin-
guished man of God has, through his leadership and example, made tremen-
dous contributions to the well-being and education of the youth in his
community; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Leonard D. Comithier, Jr. implemented a community-
wide mentoring program for students who need academic support, and over-
saw the establishment of the Macedonia Scholarship Fund, which provides
financial assistance to the church's aspiring college students as well
as well as students from the Greater Capital District; in addition, he
developed a faith-based, cultural/social enrichment Rites of Passage
program for youth; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Leonard D. Comithier, Jr. has been called upon to
contribute his time and talents to countless civic and charitable
endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Retired as Coordinator of Ministerial Services for the New
York State Office of Children and Family Services, he served as a board
member of the Whitney M. Young Health Center, and has held key leader-
ship positions in multiple ministry associations and organizations; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Reverend Leonard D. Comithier, Jr.
has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Reverend Leonard D. Comithier, Jr.
has displayed throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Reverend Leonard D. Comithier, Jr. upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Green Tech High Charter School;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Leonard D. Comithier, Jr.
