LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mexico Academy and Central High School
Varsity Wrestling Coach William Kays upon the occasion of his desig-
nation as recipient of the Coach of the Year Award by the Friends of
Section 3 Wrestling Committee

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to commend notable educators and athletic
coaches who serve the youth of this great Empire State and who have
distinguished themselves and their schools through outstanding commit-
ment and exemplary athletic achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Mexico Academy and Central High School Varsity Wrestling Coach William
Kays upon the occasion of being named Coach of the Year Award by the
Friends of Section 3 Wrestling Committee on Sunday, March 9, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Coach William Kays has been the wrestling coach at Mexico
Academy and Central School (MACS) for 26 years, and a science teacher at
the school for 28 years; and
WHEREAS, In 2014, this esteemed man guided the MACS varsity wrestling
team to an outstanding record of 13-2, despite fielding a young team
whose only two seniors were first year wrestlers; and
WHEREAS, Coach William Kays' leadership was an integral part of a MACS
varsity wrestling successful season which included winning the league
and finishing second in the New York State Tournament; and
WHEREAS, Coach William Kays' positive demeanor, selfless commitment,
and caring concern have contributed to his enduring success as a coach
and mentor, earning him the just respect and admiration of his communi-
ty, his peers, and the athletes he has so ably coached; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and this remarkable man has clearly made a contribution
to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mexico Academy and Central High School Varsity Wrestling Coach
William Kays upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Coach of the Year Award by the Friends of Section 3 Wrestling Committee;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Coach William Kays.
