LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Leona Baldwin upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Lioness Club of Central
Square, New York
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Leona Baldwin has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Leona Baldwin
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Lioness Club of Central Square, New York, which was celebrated at the
Club's annual Christmas Dinner in December 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Lioness Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to
playing an active role in the local community and helping those less
fortunate, while enjoying social gatherings with like-minded individuals
who come from all walks of life; it is a subsidiary of Lions Club Inter-
national, one of the largest service organizations in the world; and
WHEREAS, Leona Baldwin has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Lioness Club of Central Square for 27 years,
Leona Baldwin has displayed her strong commitment to the club's mission,
serving in several elected positions which include president, vice pres-
ident, treasurer and most recently as member of its board of directors;
and
WHEREAS, Over the years, this esteemed woman has supported the Lioness
Club in countless ways; she has chaired such community service programs
as the Clothing Fund, the Apple Festival Crafters, the Up With People
Dinner and Business Fair; she has also been an active participant at
such events as the senior dinner, Rally for the Troops, Easter egg hunt,
garage sale, and Lioness forum; and
WHEREAS, An avid knitter, Leona Baldwin is part of a group who knit
hats, mittens and scarves which are then wrapped and placed in the many
Christmas baskets the Center Square Lions Club gives to disadvantaged
families; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Leona Baldwin has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Leona Baldwin has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Leona Baldwin upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Lioness Club of Central Square, New York; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Leona Baldwin.
