LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Hope Schaumburg upon the occasion of
being recognized as a 2014 National Medalist in the 91st Annual Scholas-
tic Art and Writing Awards

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, to honor the achievements of its young
citizens and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and accomplishments
exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Hope Schaum-
burg upon the occasion of being recognized as a 2014 National Medalist
in the 91st Annual Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, to be celebrated
at its National Awards Ceremony on Friday, June 6, 2014, at Carnegie
Hall, New York, New York; and
WHEREAS, Academically and artistically, Hope Schaumburg has distin-
guished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, talent, and
maturity, establishing standards of excellence and achievement, purpose-
fulness of life, and responsibility rarely achieved in youthful years;
and
WHEREAS, The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards have an impressive
legacy, dating back to 1923, and are the largest source of recognition,
publication, and scholarships for creative teens in the United States;
and
WHEREAS, Hope Schaumburg, a senior at Goshen High School, received a
Silver Award in the photography category for her work, "Frozen In Your
Tracks"; and
WHEREAS, Recognized by panels of creative professionals, Hope Schaum-
burg is one of the most talented young artists in the nation; this year,
255,000 works of art were submitted, and only the top one percent were
recognized at a national level; and
WHEREAS, An outstanding role model for her classmates, Hope Schaumburg
has brought honor to her family, school, and community; and
WHEREAS, Hope Schaumburg may stand with pride in her achievements,
experiencing the satisfaction of her labors and the joy of her accom-
plishments, eager to face the challenge of new experiences as she
continues her education; and
WHEREAS, Hope Schaumburg represents the potential inherent in our most
precious resource, our youth; this Legislative Body is pleased to honor
this young woman, recognizing her achievements and the promise of her
future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Hope Schaumburg upon the occasion of being recognized as a 2014
National Medalist in the 91st Annual Scholastic Art and Writing Awards;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Hope Schaumburg.
