LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Human First upon the occasion of its
13th Anniversary Gala to be held October 2, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities of New York State are
reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of organizations and
individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community and
its citizenry and have made strong contributions to the disability
community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Human First upon the occasion of its 13th Anniversary Gala to be held at
Terrace on the Park, Flushing Meadows Park, on Thursday, October 2,
2014; and
WHEREAS, Human First is a multicultural organization focused on
providing services to individuals with disabilities from underserved
communities who have had a difficult time fitting into mainstream
programs; and
WHEREAS, Its mission is to provide greater opportunities for individ-
uals with special needs to achieve their personal goals; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of CEO Wafa Abboud, Human First is
a leader among multicultural and emerging organizations in New York
State, serving over 1200 individuals; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Human First upon the occasion of its 13th Anniversary Gala to be
held October 2, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Wafa Abboud, CEO, Human First.
