LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Donna Ramundo upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Hudson Valley Area Labor
Federation on June 5, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the efforts of individuals who distinguish themselves in service
to the cause of working men and women in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Donna Ramundo upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion by the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation; she will be honored at
its 8th Annual Labor Heroes Celebration on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at
The Clubhouse at Patriot Hills, Stony Point, New York; and
WHEREAS, Rockland County Teachers' Association (RCTA) President Donna
Ramundo is the recipient of the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation's
2014 Lifetime Service Award; and
WHEREAS, Donna Ramundo was born and raised in Elmira, New York, and
has served as a union leader throughout her 37-year career in education,
beginning in 1987 where she was the chief building representative in her
district; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to advocating for the rights of teachers, Donna
Ramundo has held almost every position in the Nyack Teachers Associ-
ation, serving as Grievance Chair and Vice President for many years, and
continuing to serve as chief negotiator and President of her district,
roles she will play until September 1, 2014; and
WHEREAS, As RCTA President for the past six years, Donna Ramundo has
endeavored to serve and represent the interests of Rockland County's New
York State United Teachers (NYSUT) members; she has served in many
capacities for NYSUT, sitting on its policy board where she was a liai-
son to the other teacher unions in her county, and serving in a leader-
ship role during the organization's yearly assemblies; and
WHEREAS, This wise leader has also served for many years on the Ameri-
can Federation Teacher policy board, and sits on the Central Labor Coun-
cil Board as Vice President for IBEW 363; and
WHEREAS, Donna Ramundo will retire from her profession in 2014; howev-
er her commitment to supporting and actively promoting the best inter-
ests of her union family will never waver; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Donna Ramundo upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation's 2014 Lifetime Service
Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Donna Ramundo.
