LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Garri-
son Art Center, Garrison, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those cultural organizations of high purpose and worthy
accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the
citizens of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of the Garrison Art Center, Garrison, New
York; and
WHEREAS, The Garrison Art Center is located on the banks of the Hudson
and offers serious programs along with fun events for all ages all year
long; and
WHEREAS, Within the Garrison Art Center, the Riverside Galleries
consist of two exhibition spaces that feature quality exhibitions and
educational shows throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, The education program offers classes seven days a week in
five state-of-the-art studios which are also available to artists at
reasonable rental prices; and
WHEREAS, The Garrison Art Center is open to the community for hosting
meetings, events and small parties with birthday party workshops avail-
able for kids and special workshops available for all ages; and
WHEREAS, The Art Center board, staff, teaching artists and volunteers
are enthusiastically involved in ensuring that art thrives in our local
and larger communities; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Garrison Art
Center; and
WHEREAS, Organizations of singular distinction such as the Garrison
Art Center provide a model for enhancing the quality of life in the
community and merit the grateful praise of the community of the State of
New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Garrison Art Center of Garrison,
New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Garrison Art Center.
