LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Father Michael A. Farano upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the Sister Maureen Joyce Chari-
ties Award by Catholic Charities on June 19, 2014
WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Father Michael
A. Farano upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Sister Maureen Joyce Charities Award by Catholic Charities, to be cele-
brated at its Night at the Museum event on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at
the New York State Museum, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Father Michael A. Farano is being recognized for his exem-
plary work and commitment to his community, which serves to empower
others; and
WHEREAS, Ordained to the priesthood in 1968, Father Michael A. Farano
has served the Diocese of Albany in several capacities since that time
including his work in the Bishop's office, as Pastor of St. Pius X
Parish in Loudonville, Chancellor and Vicar General; and
WHEREAS, Singular in distinction is Father Michael A. Farano, whose
service to his church and his people, and his involvement in his commu-
nity mirror a commitment of compelling dimension; and
WHEREAS, Father Michael A. Farano has been a steadfast and dedicated
supporter of Catholic Charities for more than four decades; he was
instrumental in Catholic Charities of Albany being one of the first
places to provide a home to children orphaned due to HIV/AIDS in the
1980s; and
WHEREAS, Subsequently, today, the Farano Center in Albany cares for
children who have been removed from their homes due to absence or
neglect; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Father Michael A.
Farano has stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has
earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues, family and friends;
and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Father Michael A. Farano has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Father Michael A. Farano upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Sister Maureen Joyce Charities Award by Catholic Chari-
ties on June 19, 2014, noting his unremitting and compassionate faith
and his exemplary service to God, man, and his community; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Father Michael A. Farano.
