LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Sam Fratto upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Hudson Valley Area Labor
Federation on June 5, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the efforts of individuals who distinguish themselves in service
to the cause of working men and women in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Sam Fratto upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
by the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation; he will be honored at its
8th Annual Labor Heroes Celebration on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at The
Clubhouse at Patriot Hills, Stony Point, New York; and
WHEREAS, Sam Fratto, Business Manager of IBEW Local Union 363 (Inter-
national Brotherhood of Electrical Workers), is the recipient of the
Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation's 2014 Joe Hill Award; and
WHEREAS, Sam Fratto is a 36-year IBEW member and, for 27 of those
years, he has served as an active, full-time advocate and agent for the
IBEW and for the working people in the Hudson Valley and New York State;
and
WHEREAS, A well-known labor leader throughout the Hudson Valley, the
IBEW and the State of New York, Sam Fratto is a staunch protector of
workers' rights, worker safety, and fair wages; and
WHEREAS, Under Sam Fratto's exemplary leadership, IBEW Local 363 has
maintained a strong commitment to the community, engaging in such activ-
ities as contributing funds for a new wing at Good Samaritan Hospital,
and providing volunteers to install new lighting at the Boy Scouts of
America Hudson Valley Council camp facility; in addition, the Local
supports yearly service events including a blood-bank drive for the
American Red Cross, and the American Heart Association's Walk-for-Life;
and
WHEREAS, The outstanding civic investment demonstrated by Sam Fratto
and members of the Local was recognized by the Rockland County Business
Association; in 2014, IBEW Local 363 became the first labor union to
ever receive its Corporate Citizen of the Year award; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sam Fratto upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation's 2014 Joe Hill Award; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sam Fratto.
