LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Marie-Christine Paupard upon the
occasion of her designation as the recipient of a 2014 SUNY Chancellor's
Award for Excellence in Teaching

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing tradition, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr.
Marie-Christine Paupard upon the occasion of her designation as the
recipient of a 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching,
which was celebrated on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Sullivan County
Community College (SUNY Sullivan) 50th Annual Commencement Ceremony in
the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse; and
WHEREAS, Faculty and staff who receive the Chancellor's Award for
Excellence have served their students, fellow faculty and staff, campus-
es, and communities with the utmost distinction, and have demonstrated
extraordinary dedication and service to SUNY Sullivan; Dr. Marie-Chris-
tine Paupard is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, In 2009, Dr. Marie-Christine Paupard joined SUNY Sullivan,
having extensive research experience and theoretical knowledge in the
biological sciences; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marie-Christine Paupard holds students to high standards,
and her courses are challenging; for this reason, she does all she can
to promote student success; and
WHEREAS, Beyond her skilled and enthusiastic work in the classroom,
Dr. Marie-Christine Paupard developed a biology remediation course for
those underprepared in science, and she often holds review sessions on
the weekends before exams; and
WHEREAS, Generally, in speaking of Dr. Marie-Christine Paupard,
students and colleagues often mention her enthusiasm, focus, and resol-
ute drive to inspire students to an understanding of biology which will
fuel a passion similar to her own; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of individuals such as Dr. Marie-Christine Paupard, who, by
providing their skills and talents to our schools, work to support our
proud tradition of public education; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marie-Christine Paupard has clearly had an enduring
impact on the youth of SUNY Sullivan, as well as on the community-at-
large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for her impres-
sive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Marie-Christine Paupard upon the occasion of her designation
as the recipient of a 2014 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in
Teaching; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Marie-Christine Paupard.
