LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Garrett Keith, Class of 1984, upon
the occasion of his induction into the 2014 SUNY Delhi Athletic Hall of
Fame
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Garrett Keith, Class of 1984, upon the occasion of his induction
into the 2014 SUNY Delhi Athletic Hall of Fame, to be celebrated at an
induction ceremony held during Alumni weekend on June 6-8, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Elmira, New York, Garrett Keith attended
Southside High School; and
WHEREAS, Two-time All-American wrestler at SUNY Delhi from 1982 to
1984, Garrett Keith currently holds two NJCAA national records for pins
in one season and pins in a career; and
WHEREAS, During his illustrious wrestling career, Garrett Keith took
first place at the Region III Championships in 1984, and was runner up
at the 1984 NJCAA Championships; that same year, he was named SUNY
Delhi's Male Athlete; and
WHEREAS, In 1983, Garrett Keith placed second at the Region III Cham-
pionships, and sixth place at the NJCAA Championships; and
WHEREAS, An athlete of many accomplishments, Garrett Keith competed in
the 1983 Pan American games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was featured
in a 1984 Sports Illustrated edition of "Faces in the Crowd" for his
NJCAA record; and
WHEREAS, Garrett Keith earned a scholarship to wrestle at North Caro-
lina State; he went on to place second at the 1985 ACC Championships,
and third at the 1986 ACC Championships; and
WHEREAS, Athletes such as Garrett Keith provide a tremendous service
to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
student-athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success
in their future years; and
WHEREAS, Garrett Keith has clearly been an inspiration to the youth of
SUNY Delhi, as well as to the community-at-large, and accordingly merits
recognition and applause for his impressive dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our students
and our schools; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Garrett Keith, Class of 1984, upon the occasion of his
induction into the 2014 SUNY Delhi Athletic Hall of Fame; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Garrett Keith, Class of 1984.
